It is, however, unclear what Dr Ato Forson will be pursuing to exact accountability.

New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen has effectively dismissed reports that his tour of the Ashanti Region has seen little support from some party stalwarts in the region.

He stressed that the outpouring of love at every opportune time as he drove round the capital, Kumasi, on his two-day tour was heart-warming.

“I received a thunderous applause and massive show of support as the people of Kumasi welcomed me home yesterday, Monday, at the beginning of my two-day engagement tour of the Ashanti Region,” he wrote on Facebook on Tuesday, January 31.

This comes in the wake of reports that some party bigwigs did not join his campaign trail as he made a triumphal entry into the town.

Reports say regional party executives led by Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi-Boasiako were conspicuously missing when the former Trade and Industry Minister paid a courtesy call on the Asantehene at the Manhyia Palace and toured the regional capital.

But Mr Kyerematen explained that he had met the regional executives after having had the “honour and privilege to call on His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, the Asantehemaa and the Asanteman Traditional Council at the Manhyia Palace”.

He said that meeting with the party officers and stakeholders was “purposely to say thank you for the years of support and cooperation in my professional and political career as well as my political aspirations in the immediate future”.

After resigning earlier this year from government, Mr Kyerematen announced his intention to contest the flagbearership race of the NPP.

In an address on Tuesday, January 10, the former Ghana Ambassador to the US promised to change the fortunes of the ordinary Ghanaian with his Great Transformational Plan, GTP, if voted as the next President of Ghana.

“I want you fellow countrymen and women, to make me your next President when the time comes, and you will see a significant difference in your lives.”
